Oliver Kruse ist bildender Künstler und arbeitet im Grenzbereich von Skulptur und Architektur. Er ist seit 1993 Mitglied im Vorstand der Stiftung Insel Hombroich, seit 2005 lehrt er als Professor an der
Peter Behrens School of Architecture in Düsseldorf.
Oliver Kruses Arbeiten wurden international ausgestellt und publiziert, seine Kinderinsel Hombroich wurde mit dem Architekturpreis NRW ausgezeichnet und u.a. 2007 im Phaidon Atlas of Contemporary World Atlas of Architecture publiziert. Seit 2007 ist er Gründungsmitglied der Raumortlabor Hombroich Stiftungs Gesellschaft, die eines der massgeblichen Projekte nationaler Stadtentwicklungspolitik in Deutschland betreut.
Oliver Kruse is a visual artist whose work stands in art history’s field of sculptural abstraction and contemporary architecture. Kruse is a member of the directing Board of the Hombroich Island Foundation, and he joined the circle of the Hombroich Island Museum founders in the 1980s. Kruse represents a second generation of architects who, following the initial period of work on the island and its first extension, has now begun a fresh project that will generate new architecture. Kruse’s architectural work is now centered on the “spaceplacelab“ project, a new extension to the Hombroich Island Museum and the former Military base-now converted as an artists’ and scientists’ retreat. The “spaceplacelab” initiative plans to convert agricultural land to provide space for an urban quarter comprising buildings for living, learning and working within a highly communicative and cultural engaged community and contained within a landscaped park. Kruse has a studio at the former Missile Base; he is Professor at the Peter Behrens School of Architecture in Dusseldorf and lives in Cologne.
